Asaf Kleinman has been praised as a “unique talent” by critics and audience alike and is quickly gaining the recognition as one of the most distinguished Israeli pianists in his generation currently based in Europe. Russian eminent pianist Nikolai Petrov described him as a “rare musician and pianist”, and since his debut at the “Musical Kremlin” festival in Moscow at 2004 by his invitation, he performs extensively as a soloist and a chamber music player in Israel, Europe and other parts of the world. Some of the venues he has performed including The Kremlin in Moscow, Xi’an Concert Hall in China, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Théâtre de Vevey in Switzerland or Chișinău Organ Hall in the Republic of Moldova.

Kleinman performs regularly as a soloist with orchestras such as the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Raanana Symphonette Orchestra and the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva, under Justus Frantz, Uriel Segal, Vag Papian or Doron Salomon, among others. His concerts appearances were broadcast on different TV and radio channels like the Israeli Television, the Russian Television, “Radio Clásica” in Spain or the Israeli “Voice of Music” network.

His interests in a large spectrum of music making made him collaborate with rock or folk musicians making a large amount of arrangements, as well in the improvisation field where he has been described as a “phenomenon”. Some of his early pieces like “Last Wishes” for Piano and Orchestra; “Love Song” for Voice and Piano; “Desires, Horrific and Sweet” for Piano Trio; “Dialogues” for Mandolin Quartet, String Quartet and Tape; “Lacrimosa e Galliard” for Three Mandolins; “Book of Hommages” for Piano or “Outbursts” for Mandolin Solo have been premiered and recorded.

Asaf Kleinman was born in 1986 in Israel where he started his musical studies in piano and composition at the age of seven. Among his teachers in Israel were Emanuel Krasovsky, Asaf Zohar and Dalia Feldman for piano, and André Hajdu, Michael Wolpe and Shmuel Elbaz for composition and improvisation. Asaf finished his studying under the legendary Russian pianist and pedagogue Dmitri Bashkirov at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid.
